How do I install and set up an eSIM on my iOS device?

Quick answer

On Wi-Fi, open Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data) > Add eSIM, then install using whichever method your order provides: scanning the QR code, using the direct installation link, or entering the details manually. Afterwards, label the line and choose it for mobile data.

Steps

1. Connect to stable Wi-Fi and open your installation details.
2. Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data) > Add eSIM, shown as Add Cellular Plan on older iOS versions.
3. Install the profile using a QR code, the direct link, or manual details.
4. Give the line a clear label such as Travel Data so you can tell it apart from your home SIM.
5. Keep your usual line for calls and texts, and set the new eSIM line as your Cellular Data line.
6. Apply the data roaming setting your package specifies for the eSIM line.

After installing

• Nothing more is needed until you arrive, unless your package activates on installation.
• On arrival, if data does not start, toggle Airplane Mode for around 30 seconds.

Important

Install once, on the device you intend to travel with. The profile cannot be moved to another phone later, and deleting it usually cannot be undone.
