How can I troubleshoot eSIM issues on an iPad?

Last updated: 2026-09-03

Quick answer

iPad troubleshooting follows the same logic as iPhone, in a slightly different menu. Confirm the plan is switched on, that it is the one selected for cellular data, and that data roaming matches what your package requires.

Work through these

  1. Open Settings > Cellular Data and confirm the eSiMAZE plan is turned on.
  2. Confirm it is the plan selected for cellular data if more than one is installed.
  3. Set Data Roaming for that plan as your package specifies.
  4. Turn Airplane Mode on for around 30 seconds, then off.
  5. Restart the iPad.
  6. Confirm you are inside the package's coverage area and that it has data and validity left, at /app/esims.

iPad-specific things to check

  • Only cellular iPad models can use an eSIM. Wi-Fi-only models have no Cellular Data section.
  • An iPad has no home SIM to fall back on, so if the eSIM is not working the iPad has no mobile data at all.
  • Check for a pending iPadOS update, which occasionally resolves activation faults.

Important

Do not delete the plan while troubleshooting. It normally cannot be reinstalled. If these steps do not help, contact us with the iPad model and your destination.
