How do data amounts and validity periods work for eSIM packages?

Last updated: 2026-09-03

Quick answer

Each package combines two separate limits: an amount of data and a number of days. The package ends as soon as either one is exhausted - using all your data on day two ends it, and so does reaching the final day with data to spare.

How the days are counted

  • Validity runs in consecutive calendar days, including days you do not use your phone.
  • Counting starts according to the package's activation policy - either at installation or at first connection. Your package details state which.
  • A package cannot be paused once started.

Choosing an allowance

  • Maps, messaging, and web browsing use relatively little.
  • Video streaming, video calls, cloud photo backup, and app updates use far more.
  • If you are unsure, check what your phone has used at home over a comparable number of days.

Important

Data and days do not convert into each other, and unused data is not refunded or carried over. See what happens to the unused data.
